Wildlife artist, sporting dog artist, photographer and videographer, Carl J. Melichar makes his residence in rural Mayer, MN.
Carl's home and his Countryside Art Gallery is located on an old historical farm, homesteaded & built in the middle 1800’s, about 40 minutes west of the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN metro area.
On display at the gallery is also artwork and carved decoys of Richard Schiebel, a lifelong friend, and memorabilia of the late, great Les C. Kouba, Carl’s second cousin.
Carl is Director of the 1914 "Old Granary" Museum, Studio and Art Gallery. The Granary has over 100 taxidermy specimens displayed, mostly sea ducks and all four of the North American Eiders.
In 2019 the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary was created, which sits on 2 acres of mostly organic wild flowers, pumpkins, gourds and milkweed, adjacent to a 100 year old barn adorned with monarch graphics and antique cars interspersed throughout the 14 acre Countryside Art Gallery homesite.
Carl was born in Hutchinson, MN, grew up with a dairy farm background and has always loved the outdoors.
